Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway

About Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway

The Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway is a delightful family run steam railway tucked away in the heart of the Kent countryside. Operated by the Best family and a group of dedicated Volunteers, the railway was started in 1975 and over the years has developed into a fully operational narrow gauge line. The venue has a beautiful Tea room open Wednesday to Sunday every week and the railway opens to the public once a month throughout the year (excluding January and February) for Special Event Days. These Event Days showcase all the railway has to offer including steam train rides, traction engines, tractors, the UK's only 105ft aerial ladder American fire truck, museum, large model railway plus the visiting exhibitors. Each month offers a different Event Day theme and welcomes different exhibitors and attractions so no two visits will be the same! Diesel trains are operated on Wednesdays and no not require booking - other attractions are not on display during the week. It's a great little mid week, cost effective outing. The venue is a wonderful place to enjoy the great outdoors with walk, picnic areas and plenty of space to kick a ball about or sit and watch the trains go by.
